| “The
Biography of Jariya Kiranantawat” |
What
inspired Jariya to study art? Some people say “artist should start
from inspiration to create good artwork”. When Jariya was young
about 6 years old, she saw any beautiful figures or some nice sketch
in newspapers/books. It inspired her to sketch along on simple paper,
and created her own paper doll for playing with friends. She thinks
that the inspiration has just begun at that time. Regular art classes
in the school lead her close to art. The art teacher, Sa-ngadh Juar-jan,
at grade 7 simply introduced perspectives to painting landscape
and especially the important color theory in comparison of warm/cool
colors with the taste of food, i.e. red and orange are spicy, yellow
and green are sour, blue and violet are salty. Good food should
have proper combination of all tastes, so does the beautiful painting
have proper color combination. It helps all students to easily memorize
how to make good painting. Later she studied further and worked
in business administration so many years. Her art-skill developed
gradually as hobby. However, she collected the old master art printing/books
and practiced herself, sketched little birds after exhausted from
very long-hours working in the office especially after midnight.
The sketches were nicely framed and given to her sister, brothers
and friends as gifts. When she had some free times, she studied
art again in charcoal and water color with Suchart Wongthong, a
famous artist in water color, for a few sessions. Occasionally she
traveled to Europe and was fascinated with the paintings of old
master artist such as Michaelangelo, and hand-painted porcelains
at Windsor Castle. The inspirations come again to study porcelain
painting with many teachers at Hobby House, Bangkok, Thailand, e.g.
Kaseera, Angsana Klempin, Sando and Josephine Robinson. She practiced
and practiced for 4 years, and prefers realistic style.

In year 2000 she sent a plate to join competition in Finland and
it won a Special Mention award for ‘Angel’ competition, which was
organized by SPM ( now “Porcelain Plus), a Finnish Porcelain Painting
magazine. The awarded angel with Thai costume, namely ‘Thai Angel’,
was painted in realistic painting style. The award triggered her
to transition from a leading multinational firm, to run studio as
a professional artist. She can teach many subjects e.g. portraits,
fruits, birds, landscape and flowers etc.
About 10 years she has run her studio offering hand painting on
demand, and regular painting lessons for porcelain and fabric at
the studio. Occasionally, she was invited to run workshops/seminar
for members of the Bannlektee 5 Vocational Training Center, the
Emergency Home, and National Institute of Metrology etc.
