| Thai angel with Thai text: “Happy New Year
2000.” She used oil based colours and three fires. Colours: Ruby Red,
Mid Pink, Emerald Green, Mixing Yellow, and Tan, Reflected Light and
Warm Shadow and Sky Blue. She tells us
that she started painting porcelain in 1996 after giving been traveling
in Italy. There she was inspired by European art, especially by
a visit to the Sistine Chapel. She studied the European way of painting,
and later American portrait techniques with Sando. Today she has
her own studio, and paints on commission in addition to teaching
courses. She has also participated in shows.
The other designs are masks from the popular Thai opera, based on the epic work Ramayana. It was written in 1798 by King Rama I of Thailand. They are painted in both water and oil based mediums. First they are drawn with a pen using water based colours, then painted with an oil based medium and many different colours. She only used one fire. |
